Where It All Began…
It all began at an abbey in the middle of nowhere Arkansas during a Pandemic. We did not begin by wanting to start a counseling center in Northwest Arkansas. We began by being quiet, slowing down, and enjoying each moment at Subiaco Abbey. Through days, weeks, and years of practice (yes, it takes practice to slow down), we discovered a glimmer of soul rest. And through the process, a seed was planted for something greater in our hearts.

and counselor training in Northwest Arkansas began.
Over time, a similar heartbeat grew in each of us for the plight of our fellow mental health professionals, but also for NWA at large and the mental health struggles that are plaguing our community. This curiosity planted itself in the heart of two men, and eventually a woman – and the idea for GROW Counseling and Training Center began to bloom. And here we are, continuing to slow down, listening with our hearts, and taking one step at a time.
We invite you to take a deep breath. Center yourself. Slow down. And know that you are coming to a safe place whether you are a client or clinician. Come grow with us and know that you matter.
Our Heartbeat
GROW Counseling and Training Center is a non-profit dedicated to promoting holistic growth and development, both for clients seeking therapy and for mental health professionals seeking mentoring and training in Northwest Arkansas. By fostering a nurturing environment for personal and professional transformation, we provide a space where clients and clinicians can grow, evolve, learn, and thrive! At GROW, we believe counseling is a service for all socioeconomic levels and provide a range of therapists from fully licensed professionals to budding resident counselors to interns, making counseling affordable to all.
Why We Are Different
GROW seeks to train and equip counselors by offering professional development, mentoring, and supervision to increase professional knowledge and contact with fellow therapists. We hope our counselors not only mentally understand counseling, but have a spiritual-biopsychosocial awareness of sitting in the room with a client and walking beside them on their journey.
Additionally, we as therapists teach self care, yet rarely follow our own advice because of the limitations of opportunities within the counseling community. At GROW, we want to offer benefits to give opportunity for self care for each therapist. Our goal is to foster a place where highly trained therapists are able to better take care of themselves and show up for clients in every session in a whole new way. We dream of increasing counselor satisfaction and decrease the rate of burnout – which leads for higher satisfaction for all!
